December 5-6, 2014: First days in Texas! YeeHaw!

By January 20, 2015Uncategorized

….We walked back to Starbucks in the morning to read our bibles and spend time with the Lord. It was raining when we got inside the building, but when we were finished reading the rain stopped and we started walking. God knew when we were leaving and we managed to walk to the outskirts of Texarkana into Texas! We found a spot to camp on the side of the road behind some trees. It was a great stealth camping spot for our first night in Texas…

…Continuing into the next day walking, we met a pastor named Augustine and his son Chris who stopped on the side of the road to pray for us and invite us to spend the night at their house. We told them that we could meet them when we get into town. We continued walking and met a lady named Sandra who also stopped on the side of the road to talk to us. She was into hiking and interested in what we were doing. Unfortunately, her husband recently died from their summer trek through the Pacific Crest Trail. We were able to pray for her and provide encouragement for her loss. When we got to the town of Red Water TX, we met Augustine and Chris at the Red Water diner, where we had lunch. Augustine then gave us a ride to his house where he gave us a room and a place to shower. He shared his testimony with us and we shared ours with him. He has a huge heart for God and the church, and went through hate, rejection, and anger to get to where he is now and has been completely transformed by Christ, and same with his son Chris. We watched the movie “Facing The Giants,” and later went to a diner for dinner. It was a fun night getting to know Augustine, Chris, and their family…
